Findings show that during the Covid-19 lockdown, Nepali consumers prioritize purchasing essential goods such as groceries and essential services like internet access. During Covid-19 lockdown most Nepali consumers engage in activities like browsing social media, cleaning their homes, and watching movies. While many work remotely, a significant number face job insecurity and reduced ability to work due to the pandemic.
The study explores the impact of the lockdown on the daily lifestyles, financial stability, and purchasing behaviors of Nepali consumers in Kathmandu Valley. Conducted by Avant Garde Solutions, the survey includes responses from 150 participants collected between April 24 and May 8, 2020, using a structured questionnaire and a Likert scale to gauge agreement on various statements.
Financially, respondents are cautious, with most agreeing they need to carefully manage their spending and have to cut back on expenses. Although online shopping adoption was initially low, a growing portion of people buy groceries and internet services online.
The study also highlights low consumption of alcohol and tobacco during this period. Overall, these findings reflect how lockdown restrictions shape consumer priorities and lifestyle changes in Nepal during the COVID-19 crisis.
