The study assesses the viewership of the FIFA World Cup 2026 among respondents aged 18–64 years in Kathmandu Valley by examining tournament viewership and preferred viewing platforms. A quantitative survey was conducted among 1,000 respondents (500 males and 500 females) using Computer-Assisted Personal Interviewing (CAPI) between 29th June and 14th July, 2026.

The findings show that 53% of respondents watched the FIFA World Cup 2026, while 47% did not. Tournament viewership was significantly higher among male respondents (70%) than female respondents (36%). Among viewers, Himalayan Sports TV (49%) emerged as the most preferred viewing platform, followed by the DGO Mobile App (34%) and YouTube (26%). Among respondents who watched through web streaming websites/apps, Yono TV (37%) was the leading platform.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 recorded strong viewership among respondents in Kathmandu Valley, with male respondents demonstrating considerably higher engagement than female respondents. Himalayan Sports TV remained the leading platform for tournament viewership across both male and female audiences.
